My husband is a country music fan. I'm more eclectic with everything from Goth, J-Pop, ethnic, classical, jazz (I have a dog that loves jazz and blues), but mostly heavy metal. In an attempt to find something we could both enjoy I happened upon Goth Country. Trampled by Turtles (you better be dead if this happens or at least dead drunk), The Dead South, Goodnight Texas among others started to show up on my playlists. There was one band that seemed to really speak to me though, The Heavy Horses. I loved their music with actual stories held within them. One song, Hell Awaits from Murder Ballads & Other Love Songs, created images that I felt almost compelled to write out. "I stumbled from the woods after night fall" created such images and questions. What if instead of finding his family dead his wife found him? What if he was covered in blood because he was attacked? What if that attack was a curse, a Native American curse in retribution? These questions and more lead me to writing the first novel. Once the ball was rolling the rest of the unit's stories begged to be told culminating in five books (I haven't published the last one yet). Please give The Heavy Horses some love by visiting their bandcamp page at https://theheavyhorses.bandcamp.com/merch
